What our people think.
I love the size of the business and the flexibility that comes with that. We are such an agile and adaptable organisation. Most of my career before it|venture was with the civil service; a huge organisation that was incredibly regimented. The ability to create change in that environment is all but non-existent. At it|venture it’s the polar opposite. And I also love the inherent culture of trust the business has developed. I am trusted to get on with things and deliver. Support is there if you need it, but not being micromanaged and the ability to manage my own workload is incredibly satisfying.

Jennifer Gregory
Senior Consultant
I joined the business in the midst of the pandemic when everyone was working from home, in June 2020. I knew I had arrived at a great business when Bertie, our CEO, turned up at my house to deliver all my IT kit and welcome me to the business. I was terrified, but he could not have been nicer. I don’t think many CEOs would take the time to do that.
My job at it|venture is my second role, after beginning my working life working in the airline industry. I’ll be honest, there wasn’t a huge scope for career development in that role. It was very easy to get lost because there were so many people in the business. It also meant that it was harder to pick up new skills quickly. And that’s the polar opposite of it|venture.
I am a senior consultant, but I began as a junior consultant. Most of my time is currently spent looking after two of our bigger clients. For one my work began with a huge data migration project which has gone live and we are now looking at improving other parts of their processes. For the other client, we have just begun a new eFront implementation project, which is redefining their approach to data.
I love my role. Interacting with clients, problem solving, having clients who genuinely value the advice I give and the solutions we create. And, I am never bored, which is a big thing for me.
No! Which, given what I just said about the importance of not being bored, is brilliant. There is huge variety in my working day. Sometimes I work on my own, sometimes I work with part of a wider team. And I love that.
Am I only allowed one? In all seriousness, there are probably two things that make the business so great. Firstly, they want their people to progress. I started with the business as a junior consultant but within two years I had been promoted twice. Now, I’d like to think that some of that was because I am pretty good at what I do, but a lot of it is because the business wants to help. Senior leaders are always available to talk, acting as mentors, and they put a huge amount of trust in their people to deliver and grow.
Secondly, it’s all the people. Everyone supports everyone. If you have a challenge, or indeed a problem, you never have to suffer in silence. We can always ask questions and you never feel alone. For me, that is the kind of culture that the best businesses are built on.
I have always struggled a little with confidence. But it|venture has helped instil a real sense of belief in myself. The business has let me grow, let me develop my own way of working, and trusts me to deliver. And now, with my specific clients, I am the face of the business. I can’t tell you how amazing that feels.

Louis Ambrose
Senior Consultant
I joined the business in September 2021 having begun my working life, after graduating from the University of Manchester, with a market research company as a CRM Manager. In my first role I soon realised that I wanted a job that combined technical work with client relationships.
I am a technical consultant and I predominantly work on our DealCloud retainer. DealCloud engage us to supplement their own internal team to deliver projects for their clients. I tend to work on their larger implementations and my work is focused on transforming legacy systems into scalable and manageable DealCloud environments. So I spend a lot of time understanding their clients’ current systems and set ups before mapping them out and create a transformational journey. Some of my projects can last as long as six months, some can be smaller. I like the balance and variety this creates.
Not really. Of course, I do deal with the same types of problems and challenges. But as no two clients are the same, there is a natural variety to what I do.
It is such a friendly business. From senior leadership, right the way through the business, everyone is pleased to be part of such a good team. I guess you could say we are big enough to matter, but small enough to care. I get to work with different people all the time, but with shared skill sets. So we are always there to help each other.
I think it’s also important to state that the business leaders really want to see everyone develop. They encourage that and there are clear career pathways in the organisation for everyone to grow.
One project that I always think about is one where I feel I had a big influence on a positive outcome. It was a challenging piece of the work that hadn’t begun brilliantly, but I decided to go and spend significant time working in the client’s offices, thereby developing key, day-to-day working relationships with their internal team. There was lots of problem solving and creating solutions together. We eventually delivered a solution that the client was thrilled with.
