What do our clients think?
Our project was very challenging, both in scope and timeline. The only constant thing was change to say the least. it|venture helped us configuring and building various reports and dashboards to complement our implementation. Those required complex calculations in order to incorporate multiple customised concepts, on sometimes blurry requirements. When necessary, it|venture advised on feasibility and options or pointed out potential conflicts and/or dependencies. We wouldn’t have been able to get it done without their professional and knowledgeable team. As a lesson learnt I would advise to include them much earlier in the project in order to identify dependencies between report feasibility and config specifications.

Bertie Heyman
Founder and CEO
Bertie is a trusted independent advisor to private equity firms around the world. He has over 15 years of experience advising fund managers, administrators and vendors on maximising the impact of technology and data within their business operations. Complemented by an unrivalled depth of knowledge in the technologies servicing the private capital markets industry. He specialises in technical advisory, business intelligence, data strategy, system integration and operating model refinement. During his career, he has acted as a strategic advisor to leading firms. These include 3i, Aberdeen, Actis, Barclays Infrastructure Funds, CVC, CDC and Blackrock.
Bertie founded it|venture in 2011, to support clients in unlocking the power of technology within their businesses. His previous roles include Private Equity Technology specialist at Barclays Infrastructure Funds and Head of Business Intelligence (UK) at eFront (now part of BlackRock).
Jess Shepherd
Director of Professional Services
Jess leads our professional services team. She specialises in advisory and delivery services for the alternative investment industry. She has particular expertise in portfolio monitoring and fund accounting software.
Since joining the team in 2015, she has worked with various clients. She has end to end project experience across sectors and asset classes that include Private Equity, Energy and Venture Capital.
Max Evans
Director of Innovation
Max is an expert in private capital market technology best practice. He has designed and delivered numerous innovative data driven solutions that generate value for industry leading firms.
He joined the team in 2015 and focuses on leading our data strategy and software development practices.
Abigail Lewis
Director of Operations
Abi joined the business in 2018, bringing with her nine years of experience of technology solutions in the alternative investment industry. With significant experience in all areas of project delivery, Abi now focuses on large middle and back office projects. In an advisory, analysis and data migration capacity.
In additon, she leads a team of consultants providing induction into the company and training to new joiners
Robert Cartledge
Director of Strategy
Robert began his career as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer in one of the world’s largest law firms. Here, he focussed on a broad mix of public and private transactions. This included Takeover Code and PE focussed buy-outs. As well as working with FTSE 100 and AIM listed clients, and numerous investment fund vehicles.
Using this business experience and a passion for technology, he joined our senior management team in 2019. He now focuses on the practice’s consultancy offering. He delivers concise and pragmatic solutions that position it|venture’s clients at the cutting edge of technology.
